Getting started with Mercedes me Charge
Mercedes me Charge is an essential part of the Mercedes-Electric charging ecosystem. This service integrates multiple charging point operators (CPOs) into a single network, including ChargePoint, Electrify America and EVgo. With access to over 60,000 public charging points nationwide, Mercedes me Charge is one of the largest integrated charging networks in the U.S.

Charging Experience
Charging Levels
Electric vehicles require charging through either a Level 1, 2 or 3 charger. The three levels indicate different charging speeds, measured in kilowatts (kW), accessible via home chargers or public charging stations.
Locating Stations
The Mercedes me connect app or the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) headunit can help you find charging stations and make it easy to filter by charging speed or even Plug & Charge functionality.
Planning for Trips
Your vehicle will monitor its state of charge and suggest the ideal time to stop for a charge. The Electric Intelligence service optimizes navigation route guidance and automatically factors in necessary charging stops for long-distance travel.

Charging on the Go
Understanding the Icons

One Arrow
Chargers that feature up to 49 kW charging power. Typically, these are the slowest charging speeds and can take more than 8 hours to charge vehicles fully.

Two Arrows
Chargers that are rated between 50 kW and 149 kW of charging power. These are moderate to high charging speeds that are capable of charging your vehicle in less than 2 hours.

Three Arrows
Chargers that feature 150 kW or more charging power. These chargers offer the fastest charging speeds for your Mercedes-Electric vehicle.
How to start Charging
PDIF
At ChargePoint and EVGo stations, your RFID card is the preferred method of payment authentication. Scan your card, and the charger will authenticate using your Mercedes me Charge account to begin the charging session. This authentication method requires registering your RFID card during Mercedes me Charge registration.
If you have not registered your RFID card yet, you can do so in the Mercedes me Charge Portal.
Plug & Charge
The easiest and most straightforward method of charging. All Electrify America DCFC stations use Plug & Charge to start a charging session. Simply plug in your vehicle, and the charging station will complete a “digital handshake” to process payment authentication and start charging. Plug & Charge requires successful activation of Mercedes me Charge.
The EQB does not have Plug & Charge functionality. Please utilize the Mercedes me connect app (preferred) or MBUX center display to start a charging session at Electrify America chargers for the EQB.
Note: Plug & Charge is a secure authentication method defined under ISO 15118, the international standard for charging electric cars.
Mercedes me connect App
The Mercedes me connect app also supports convenient authentication across all charging networks. Because the EQB does not support Plug & Charge, this is the preferred method for EQB drivers at Electrify America stations.
First, plug the charging cable into the socket of your vehicle until you hear a mechanical click (some charging points may require authentication first to unlock the handle).
To start the charging session, open the map section within the app (bottom right ‘navigation’ icon) and select the charging stations icon to display stations. Choose the charging station you are parked at from the result list under the map. Compare the charger IDs on the app screen with the ID outside at the charger that is plugged into the vehicle. Then select the “Charge” button to authenticate and initiate the charging session.
EQS/EQE Center Display
The MBUX center display can also be used to initiate a charging session. Using the navigation, select your preferred charging station and scroll down to the image of a charging post. To ensure you are parked at the right station, look at the charger IDs on the screen and reference the ID outside at the charger where you are parked. Then choose the plug and select “yes” when the system asks if you want to charge at the selected charging station. Quickly plug the charging cable into the socket of your vehicle until you hear a mechanical click. Please be aware that the charging cable should be connected to the vehicle within 45 seconds.
Using the center display to initiate charging sessions is supported by all charging networks.
EQB Center Display
The EQB center display also offers all MBUX features but operates on a different software version than the EQS and other Mercedes-EQ model lines.
To initiate a charging session, first select your preferred charging station in the navigation system and select “Start charging session.” To ensure you are parked at the right station, look at the charger IDs on the screen and reference the ID outside at the charger where you are parked. Select the icon (e.g. CCS 150 kW) under the charger ID.
Once you receive the confirmation that the charging session was started, turn off the vehicle to unlock the charging flap and quickly plug the charging cable into the socket of your vehicle until you hear a mechanical click. Please be aware that the charging cable should be connected to the vehicle within 45 seconds.
Using the center display to initiate charging sessions is supported by all charging networks.
Unlimited DC Fast Charging at Electrify America
Every battery electric Mercedes-Electric model includes unlimited 30-minute complimentary DC fast charging sessions with Electrify America for 2 years, starting with the initial activation. Electrify America has the largest network of DC Fast Chargers and can deliver the maximum charging rate for your Mercedes-Electric vehicle. To take advantage of this benefit you must be registered with Mercedes me Charge.
This benefit is only available for battery electric Mercedes-EQ model lines (EQB, EQE, EQS), not including hybrid models. This service requires successful registration of Mercedes me Charge and only applies to DC Fast Charging. Each complimentary session is capped at 30 minutes and requires a 1-hour break in between charging sessions. The service is not transferrable to another customer or vehicle and is limited to 2 years with the initial customer activation.

Charging at Home
Level 1
Level 1 uses a standard household plug and an accessory charger that can be ordered with your Mercedes-Electric. This level is capable of charging your vehicle at a rate of around 2-4 miles per hour on a 110V circuit. Because of the very limited power output, we do not recommend relying on this method to charge your Mercedes-Electric vehicle.
Level 2
Level 2 uses a separate wall box that can be purchased through ChargePoint. This home charging solution is capable of charging at a rate of around 20-30 miles per hour on a 240V circuit. At a maximum of 9.6 kW, the EQS can charge from 10 - 100% in just over 11 hours.

Ordering & Installation

ChargePoint Home Flex
The Level 2 charger we recommend is the ChargePoint Home Flex, which is one of the most advanced and highly rated connected wallboxes on the market.
Installation
We recommend Qmerit to complete the installation of your home charger. The installation costs vary and depend on the individual setup of your home. Complete your home assessment and request a quote today.
